The London Halloween adventure for children and parents not to be missed!
We will be running half hourly canal
boat trips through the Islington tunnel throughout the afternoon and evening of
Halloween - Friday 31st October and Sunday 2nd November 2008
Our Halloween Trips have proven a great success raising
funds for us to help keep Tarporley running for the community, We hope you all
had a great trip, sorry we could not take everyone who rang or turned up at
random.
For 2008 Halloween Event we are working in conjunction with The London Canal Museum and our friends at the Pirate Club and Angel Community Canal Boat are providing additional charity narrowboats to join us.
The trips will depart from the London Canal Museum, Kings Cross. The boats are community narrowboats that will be suitably decorated for this very special event and crew members will be dressed in costume. We will provide a safe environment for the children to enjoy the event, however all children must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Likewise adults must be accompanied by at least one child as the event is aimed at kids. To increase their fun we encourage them to turn up in costume too.
Before the adventure begins a brief safety talk will be given by a crew member prior to boarding. As we enter the tunnel spooky music or sound effects will be played and we hope to have a few surprizes along the way as we travel through this long 886m (960 yds) tunnel under Islington to emerge in a pretty part of the canal not far from Upper Street - its hard to believe we are so close to the hustle and bustle of city life. We will travel the short distance to the top of City Road Lock where we hope to turn the narrowboats.
We will then return back through the tunnel for more of the same fun. During the trip Trick or Treat goodies will be handed out by our friendly witch (subject to availabilty of suitable volunteers-note witch is not a childrens entertainer!)- these are included in the price. The total journey time will vary slightly from trip to trip but should last approximately 50 minutes.
Places are Strictly Limited to a Maximum 12 Persons Per Trip -Pre Booking and Pre Payment Are Recommended as to Not Disappoint - We Recommend You Book Early Before Its Too Late!

Narrowboat Tarporley Tarporley is an historic narrowboat built in 1937 to carry cargo. In 1972 she was converted for passenger use for community groups of up to 12. Being a massive 72ft (22m) she is fairly spacious. At the rear there is a traditional boatmans cabin- this will not be accessible during the event, however a virtually identical set up is the star attraction in the museum where you will be able to discover how the families used to live.
