• GREAT 2006 CANAL EASTER EGG HUNT

Easter Egg Hunts with a difference throughout Easter Sunday 16th April

A fantastic adventure to entertain 7-13 year olds

Other ages of children are also most welcome but may need help with some clues

Your Adventure will start at the London Canal Museum, where clues will lead you and your children to an historic narrowboat 'Tarporley' You will then enjoy a short trip along the canal to the Central London oasis of Camley Street Natural Park where further clues will lead you to your prize.

You may then choose to explore Camley St Natural Park or take the return boat trip back to the museum around 1 hour later.

The boat trip is designed to surprise the kids as they will only be expecting an egg hunt in the museum. The boat trip part of the hunt will last approximately 15-25 minutes each way. Each set of clues will take approximately 45 minutes at each venue total time approximately 2 hours or so including the boat trip.

The Egg hunts will start at preset times as the narrowboat is only permitted to carry 12 persons at a time, Tickets are being sold for hunts starting at 10:30AM, 11:30AM, 12:30PM, 1:30PM, 2:30PM and 3:30PM. You will work though the education based clues with your family, the boat will depart at fixed times, if you are completely stuck the volunteers will assist so you are ready for the boat departure. Please do however arrive at the museum on time.

The prize value is around £2 and prizes are only awarded to the children. The clues have been  designed for children aged 7-13 however younger children may come with you and take part for the normal fee. All children must have at least one responsible adult with them, this is a family event.

LONDON CANAL MUSEUM

The London Canal Museum will be the starting point for the egg hunt. Entry to the museum is included in the price, anyone not taking the adventure will be subject to normal museum entry fees.

The exhibits will be open as normal, as well as the canal aspect, the museum is also the place to see the Ice Caverns and discover the history of Ice imports and Ice Cream history.

Narrowboat Tarporley

Tarporley is an historic narrowboat built in 1937 to carry cargo. In 1972 she was converted for passenger use for community groups of up to 12. Being a massive 72ft (22m) she is fairly spacious. At the rear there is a traditional boatmans cabin.

Camley St Nature Park

Two unique acres of wild green space right in the heart of London make up Camley Street Natural Park. This innovative and internationally acclaimed reserve, created on the banks of the Regents canal is a place for both people and wildlife. Special features include a pond, meadow and woodland, providing a natural environment for birds, bees, butterflies, amphibians and a rich variety of plant life.

Please note the museum is open 10:30AM to 4:30PM, The 2:30 PM and the 3:30 PM egg hunts will return after the museum as closed so you will be escorted through the side gate to the street on return.

Camley St Nature Reserve will close shortly after at the end of the last egg hunt

Money raised from this event will go towards helping keep Tarporley running so that as many people as possible can enjoy the canals around London regardless of age or circumstances  - All Tarporley crew are dedicated volunteers. The London Canal Museum and the Camley St Nature Reserve will also recieve some funds-both registered charities.
